Carnaval in Maastricht.

Once every year, the streets of Maastricht are filled with carnaval festivities. Elaborate costumes and masks allow people to set aside their everyday individuality and experience alternative personalities. It is also the only time where you feel odd walking down the streets in regular clothes. While some people have been counting down the days until this festivity, others cannot quickly enough escape the city. I went out to photograph the scenes on the streets and here’s what caught my eye.
